| This set really has turned out to be a great gem of the line. If you are a fan
of Town or Train sets, this is definitely a great parts pack. I love the
assorment of Purple parts in it.
This was actually the first of the new Prisoner sets I opened, because I was
very interested in the supply of Purple. And yes, it all matches pefectly! All
the hubbub over the prototype and toyfair pictures was just as I thought, wind.
The funny thing is that the bed pillows are printed on 2x2 slope bricks, so they
look like computers with pillows thrown over them. Silly, I would have just
gone with a 2x2 tile in white. The different levels are all stack-able and each
has a bed for the wizards on board to get some rest while the Bus bangs along.
The driver is a welcome new figure, as is the dog (I think he should have been a
tad bigger.).
Pale flesh tones are not as bad as you'd think, and the changes of Greys and
Brown are starting to grow on me. With as many bricks as I have, this gives me
a reason to continue buying LEGO, so I can build up the new tones to match my
quantity of old. I think that was the TLC plan all along. Sneaky devils...
Fear not! The Purple Pack is fine! :o)

No, I don't think so. Cary Clark has picked up two copies of the Knight
Bus, one from Wal-Mart and one from KB Toys. In both cases the color
variations across the purple bricks is noticeable. The color variation is
not limited to purple though, it affects blue as well as I have noticed it a
quite a few blue parts lately.

I'll like the set and will likely by many copies of it even with the
varience in color.

Same here. Picked one up. Very noticable color variations in the purple. I
keep meaning to call to complain. Even between the same kind of piece (train
windows, or 2x4 bricks, for example) there is variation. Its just
unsatisfactory.

While I suppose if they ever fix the problem, these variations will be valuable,
I still prefer some color consistency in my model.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I picked up a copy of the new Hagrid's Hut last night. There was considerable
variation in the new dark grey plates in the floor of the hut, and I noticed
some differences between some of the new light grey pieces as well. I'm starting
to lose my faith in the once supreme quality of LEGO.

Perhaps it is the lighting available when going through parts, but I have not
seen noticable difference in color on the 5 different Potter sets I have, or in
the Spider-Man sets. The purple and grey shades on the Hut and Bus are not in
any variance that I can see. I'm not trying to hold up fool's gold, I just
cannot see the color change from part to part. Is there a official position on
this from LEGO? are they mixing in pieces from different factory lines of
different tolerances into different boxes? Seems that from what people have
said it is not necessarily the same parts in variation, nor the same ratio.
Could be that the ones I have are either (a) corrected, (b) got a better mix, or
(c) I am light blind.
Are there any TLC replies to this effect? I do intend to buy more of each of
these sets, but I'd hate to think that I'm gonna run into a color sliding scale
of purples and greys in each box. Or is this LEGO's way of telling us that the
change in official grey and brown shades is all in our imagination?
Note to self; Requires further research...

| I noticed very minor differences in dark gray parts in the new Hogwarts
castle. I wasn't so happy, but the differences are minor enough not to be a
huge problem.

My copy, as well as my mini Knight Bus, also has different shades of purple.
Some types of bricks seem to be slightly different from other types. This might
have to do with the bricks coming from different countries. Or lightfall?
However, its barely noticible looking as single bricks, but built together it
clearly shows.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | What I am noticing on these 2004 sets is something I never really paid attention
too before. On the box bottom, they state that parts included may come from
Korea, Denmark and Switzerland. Could be the new Korean factory is not pullin
up to company quality, or they have not figured out how to manage coloring at
all three locations. Was this ever a problem before? Does anybody here qualify
for a job as plant manager in charge of color quality? Wanna job? From the
level of complaints and research I have done into these pesky purple and garish
grey parts, it seems that someone is asleep at the wheel in TLC or its partners.
I guess you get what you pay for...

Strange... my versions (European) mention bricks coming only from Denmark and
Czech Republic. So maybe we now even have 3 or 4 different tones of purple ;-(

Korea? The Czech Replublic? They werent making LEGO bricks two years ago.
Denmark made bricks, Germany made molds, Switzerland made both (Im not sure why
they dont make molds in Denmark, but...), and all that happened in the US,
South Korea, and the Czech Republic was packaging. This could very well account
for the color inconsistencies.
