| | | | | Well, I'm not sure what my brother-in-law did in regards to uploading
the pics of BrikWars to BrickShelf, but something went wrong along the
line. Yesterday he gave me copies of all the pics he took on floppy
disks along with his password for BrickShelf. After the images didn't
show up, I tried posting an image just to test it out, and sure
enough, it came up right away. I uploaded several more pics and tried
to capture the feel of the event as best as I could thru the selection
of pictures. I couldn't upload them all as I'm on a slow connection
and it would have taken forever.
Anyway, you can find most of the pictures here:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=374
About the only pics I didn't upload were those during the early set up
period, and those pics that were redundant or that didn't show any
real action.

Excellent! Now that I've got some pictures to work with, I'll start on the
Inaugural Ohio BrikWar battle report!

Oh shoot! You know what we forgot? The group photo at the end, where it shows
the players together. :(

Well, if you're going to write it, then I won't bother :)

Never fear, Adrian is here! I remembered that (after you left, of course) so
I at least have hte 4 of us still there. I'll send it to you (or upload it to
the brickshelf archive if I can)

D'oh! D'oh! D'oh! D'oh! <whaps head against wall> Ah well. We'll make sure

Looks pretty good. It captured the chaos of the mountain pass quite well.

hahaha
I popped into the library between classes yesterday to read lugnet, and I hit
this link and took a look at the battle report - it was hilarious! The
librarians kept threatening to throw me out because I couldn't stop laughing.
I especially dug the blood-splattered carnage pics, but then I've always had a
weakness for that kind of thing. I can't believe you guys tried to field
armies this big on your first game! I can't believe anybody has that many
skeletons! I can't believe you included the landmark Mount Bowling Pin! You
guys are unbelievable. Great job on the battle report and pictures.

Thanks -- I'm glad you liked it.

Who doesn't?

MY army wasn't that big. (2 mechs, 1 tank, 8 troopers, Medic & Engineer) 307
CPoints all together. Adrian & Jeff both brought 1000+ pts worth of armies...
:p

Adrian does.

That was cool, even if it WAS out of place.

Especially for a newbie event. Live and learn!

I wrote the battle report -- Ken gets credit for photography. (And bringing
the camera.)

AAG! This messages is going on in TWO threads! We need to merge these.

| These are great! Lots of praise to follow:
1) I am amazed by the green-hilly-mountain-forest area of the scenery -
it looks amazing! With the trees and use of those huge baseplate mounds
and the water ... *drool drool* Landscaping can make the event
2) I *love* the bowling pin. In one of the first pictures you can just
see its base - I was thinking to myself "what is that, some sort of power
station? lmao it looked wonderful, adding a nice lighthearted touch!
3) Great Spider-Mech, using the Tie Fighter Window. It reminded me of
the mech in Episode 6 (? - I think that's the one) of Bubble Gum Crisis,
where the non-Priss rock star leads a secret life of vengeance ...
4) Love the close-up shot of carnage ... again, another demonstration of
the shortcomings of close formations lol. And the Jar-Jar splatter -
priceless!
5) Great use of the Flash Speeders - they look so naturally
belligerent. Loading them up with the troops looks authentic, too.
6) How did the monkey squadron fare? I'd love to hear that they had
mastered guerilla tactics (pun intended) and drove the enemy bananas with
their hit and run attacks.
;)

We spent about 3 hours doing the terrain alone.

Adrian Drake built that. :)

Again, Adrian built that one.

Jeez, you must really like Adrian Drake or something -- he did the Jar-Jar
splatters.

Yes, I thought those were cool. Those were Jeff Christner's.

The monkey's? We just added those for decoration -- they never saw any combat
whatsoever. It was 5:30 when our armies finally made it onto the top of the
rise (the right-hand one that Gino built) and we had to pack it all up.
BTW, Adrian brought the monkeys.....
