It’s fall now in Ikros. The leaves are turning and the fields are being reaped. Queen Alyia has just overseen final construction of the new castle at Lake Halcyon. During her father Ulmerad’s rule over Ikros, the original Halcyon Castle was destroyed in a great battle between the Ikrosian forces and those of the Necromancer Ethelred. The nearby village of Halcyon Lake and the surrounded farmland have remained unguarded ever since. But now, through her public works projects, Halcyon Castle has been rebuilt, bigger and better than ever.

The castle sits in Lake Halcyon on a large man made rock hill, built over the original Halcyon Castle foundation. The Castle once again serves its purpose as the Royal Family’s summer home, and though it does not share all the comforts of Illana Castle in Ikros’ Capital, it is still a grand fortress with all the necessities.

9. A rear entrance to the keep from the outside, guarded by another port cullis, leading to a boat dock.

This is bar none my best Castle MOC I’ve ever created (I count Formeathan 2.0 as a Fantasy MOC). I am extremely proud of the final product. Pictures do not do it justice.

I have had a lot of help with this creation. Whether it be through inspiration or direct comments, I thank everyone invovled, but especially my fiancee’ Christina, who not only put up with me through this whole thing, but also built parts of it as well (including furnishing all the furnished buildings)!

Enjoy, and LMKWYT!

That is an amazing MOC. The castle is amazing, the village is amazing,
it's all amazing. Well done. I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures.
I really like how you did the terrain too. Lots of wonderful MOC's in the
village, and lots of wonderful details in the castle too. Put together,
it's breath-taking.
Thanks for sharing the pix.
Play well.

Thanks much!  I'm glad to hear you like it.  I really poured my heart into this
MOC.  Unlike previous times when I've cut back on detail to save on bricks, I
went as far as my collection would take me.  Too bad it's taken me this long to
decide to do so.

Thanks for the reply!

Anthony,

Wonderful as usual, it pains me that I can’t see this in person and spend a few hours really appreciating the details.

An Aggie, huh? I was just in Houston, and a friend was talking about the Aggie Mafia and how it helps.

Thanks,

George

Thanks much! Yeah, I know what you mean, a lot of people who have seen it in person now have commented on how they have to sit and stare at it to catch all that’s going on. I suppose that’s the double edged sword in making details.

Yup, Texas A&M Graduate, two years out and still unemployed (no paying job, anyway). If you can make it out to San Antonio, Halcyon will be there at the TexLUG meeting next weekend.

Thanks for the reply!

Wow. Fantastic detail. I love that the buildings are set at different angles and I love the “chicks” :0).

The stable in particular caught my attention. Very nice. All in all a great build!!

Thanks much! I’m glad you liked it. I have to thank Manfred for the offest angled buildings. He was the one who suggested it to me in my village of Dahyart. The chicks were actually kind of a joke, but they turned out pretty good so they stayed. :) And I have to thank my fiancee’ Christina for the Stable, she helped me with that one a lot.

And thanks for the reply!

Really nice work Anthony! Such an elegant idea, I’m surprised no one has done it before. Really nice execution.

Attn LEGO: look what you can do with regular old bricks. Kids would love it (and parents would buy it).

Take care,

Thanks much! To what are you referring, the autumnal trees? I was pretty surprised that no one had done them before when I posted my foliage article. I was fully expecting someone to reply and say “Yeah, that’s been done, here’s a link”. Of course, not everyone loves my trees. Ben E. thinks I shoulda used all plates to give the trees more definition. Well, forget you, Ben! :)

I’m flattered you think that what I’ve done (to what it was you were referring) deserves LEGO’s attention, I may not agree, but I’m flattered none the less.

And thanks for the reply!

Well done Anthony and Christina.

This design is truly overwhelming. There are too many details to mention them all, so I’ll just say that those autumn trees are wonderful, and the rest of the design is in keeping with them.

I especially like your upstairs oubliette chute. I must install one; I can’t think of how many times I’ve needed to oublier something and had to go downstairs to do so.

Peace and awesomeness,

Professor Whateverly

PS. I think it doesn’t hurt to remind people once in a while, as so much flies by in a week, it’s easy to miss stuff.

Thanks much! I really like my trees, too. They really add a lot of color to the display.

Christina likes to tease me about my oubliette, and I know it really should be on the bottom floor, or even below it in a dungeon. But with me building on baseplates, and my want for an oubliette, I had to sacrifice historical accuracy for building convenience. But it really is a moot point. Queen Alyia is too nice to ever throw someone down in there anyway :)
