ILTCO would like to invite everyone to come see the largest LEGO train
layout ever (~50 x 70 feet, or well over 15 x 20 meters) at the National Model
Railroad Association (NMRA) National Train Show, July 7-9, 2005 in
Cincinnati!!!!
The show is open to the public on Friday July 8, Noon-6PM, Saturday July 9,
10AM-6PM, and Sunday July 10 10AM- 5PM. It is held at the Cincinnati conference
center, downtown Cincinnati.
No less than 13 clubs (COLTC, GFLTC, GMLTC, GtwLUG, MichianaLTC, MichLTC, MSLTC,
NCLTC, NGLTC, NILTC, TCLTC, WAMALTC, and rtlToronto) will be bringing the best
of their club's layouts to create a colossal consolidated LEGO train display!
There will be many other clubs represented by members coming from all over the
world to and displaying what ever they can carry on a plane/train/automobile!
We have already seen some previous teasers of what is going to be on display,
and it is going to be a true LEGO-extravaganza!! Several large models will
premier at this show, and because many clubs could easily fill twice their
allocated space, they will only be showing the best of their best. At all times,
no less than 20 train loops will buzz with activity, and 100's of additional
engines and cars will be on display. The display will be staffed by well over 50
members of various LEGO trainclubs.
This is a very exciting time for the LEGO train hobby and its
enthusiasts in that we will be getting recognition at the national
level. We have been assigned the largest available layout space out of
all the other gauges, and this is the first large-scale Lego contribution at the
worlds biggest and most well-known train convention. We'll show them that Lego
trains are a genuine force to be reckonend with!!
ILTCO will also be hosting a low key social event after setup, July 6th
- Thursday night.

ps. My (poor) excuse for this omission is that they keep changing their name to
CILTC, and then back to Indylug, so when typing the list, I left out CILTC, but
forgot to put IndyLUG back in, sorry guys/gals!!

Actually, you were correct with 13, as you included the GMLTC on your list and
shouldnt have.

Once again, J-2 is out of the loop. Hopefully the GMLTC will have a
representative or two there at the big show - it depends if Ill be able to get
out of work for a few days. <sigh>

<ahem> The 13 club number is derived from LTCs who are actually displaying
their layouts at the show, not from representatives who might also attend.

Yep, and for those not making it to NMRA, weve had a request for it to be on
the train layout at Brickfest. With the announcement of a challenge/competition
over at Brickfest, were definitely wanting to bring it now!

Dang. I wish I'd known about this a month or two ago; I would have flown out to
Cincinnati just to see it.
Would you expect this to be an annual event?
Thanks,
- Joe

Sorry to be a little grumpy here, but this doesn't match what's written on the
ILTCO Page.
http://www.iltco.org/library/articleShow.php?articleid=32
For example it says July 9, 6PM tear-down. Implying no show on Sunday.
It is very important for people having to book vacation and travel to know when
the show is actually on. I would expect that the ILTCO page would be the
correct one, and if not that it would be corrected. Seems to me it should be
the place to go for accurate information. Not somewhere deep down in a Lugnet
thread.
Again sorry to be grumpy, but could someone please fix the ILTCO page if it is
indeed wrong.
Thank you,
Derek

Its not too late. Or.. its about a 6hr drive from Chicago to Cincinnati, maybe
a carpool could be arranged for those of us not lucky enough to attend the whole
deal?

I expect that LTCs will be displaying at the NMRA National Train Show well into
the future.
2006: Philadelphia, PA - http://www.nmra.org/2006/
2007: Detroit, Michigan - http://www.nmra.org/2007/
Some Michlugers have already started talking about cool things to build for the
2007 event.
