The premiere organization for science fiction themed LEGO events!
Our mission is to support the fun of LEGO® building in the science fiction
genre and publicly display LEGO® models created by adult fans in that genre.
SCIBRICKs first public display will be October 24, 2003 at the
Cosmic Rendezvous An Evening Among The Stars benefiting Challenger Center
for Space Science Education at the Westin Galleria in Houston, Texas.
Our website will soon feature more information about our organization and our
displays. We will address questions in this newsgroup.

Neat. Who all will be actually maning and contributing creations for this show?
Is this gonna be a moonbase display? General sci-MOCs? (1)

Is the plan for this org to be like ILTCO, where clubs are a part of it, or more
like individual members join it, or is it just a Texas thing(2)? If MichLUG was
doing a Comic-Con (3), where they were planning a space display, would SCIBRICK
be interested in getting mentioned? Like We are MichLUG, but we are also a
member of SCIBRICK? (4)

(1) I am interested and curious, not trying to be a pain.
(2) Im assuming not, due to where this newsgroup is located.
(3) Which we have done before and may be doing again (soon-ish).
(4) Note: I am not speaking on behalf of MichLUG, just providing an example.

There is a group of people who will be contributing and manning this show,
myself included. Theres *sorta* a moonbase display in the works, but its too
early to tell.
SciBrick will be initially comprised of general science-fiction MOCs, with
expansion into related areas happening in the future.

SCIBRICK is going to be a member-oriented org, with members on the national and
eventually international scale.
SCIBRICK will be an org that plans to have a presence at conventions, museums,
and other places with a sci-fi slant. As such, the plan is to have a separate
display at such places.

No prob. Questions are welcome. Sorry for not answering sooner!

The current plan is to be something of the .space (SPACE!) equilvalent of ILTCO.
|
(3) Which we have done before and may be doing again (soon-ish).

Cool!

Note: I am not speaking on behalf of SCIBRICK as an official voice, but I will
answer questions as a member.

Let me clarify this. The current categories that we will be representing at this
time will be Mecha, Moonbase, and Spacecraft/Vehicles.
My apologies to those who may have interpreted my posting otherwise.

Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, this ILTCO member(a) is very
pleased at the emergence of SCIBRICK and wishes you all the best. If theres
anything that ILTCO can do to be of assistance to your nascent organization
please do not hesitate to call on us. Forming organizations that foster new
kinds of fun and new kinds of growth and enable new sorts of activities is a new
frontier of the hobby and this is really great news! Congratulations!

a - Note: I am not speaking on behalf of ILTCO as an official voice (although I
do have some small influence, or so it is alleged :-) ), but I will answer
questions as a member and officer. (b) (c)
b - just had to keep the disclaimer chain going, if you break it, it may bring
bad luck, I cant say... :-)
c - Im not speaking on behalf of MichLUG either, by the way. :-)

This is interesting to me too. I assume that a forum like this will be used to
organize moonbase events like NWBrickcon.
We have already had a few sci-fi conventions with Michlug, with one more planned
in October. Should we be advertising them here?

Actually, moonbase events would be covered by LUGNET in Events and/or Space.
This particular board will be the discussion point for SCIBRICKs involvement in
events, whether it be in having a person bring display materials for SCIBRICK or
something else.
SCIBRICK will have members from LUGs comprising it, so you could say you have
SCIBRICK members in your LUG.

Good question. Send a note to Felix@scibrick.org about that.
