Another note about the crew picture -- the background was actually the
underside of a green baseplate.  I changed the colour, and was quite pleased
with the futuristic steel-plate look I got.

In the crew shot - does the other officer have a red hair piece, or is
it brown and that's just how the colors came out?  If you painted it,
what paint did you use?

It was actually a tan hair piece, but I edited the colour in Photoshop
because I'm planning for him to have brown hair once my S@H order arrives.
Due to the extremely poor quality of that part of the scan, I ended up
settling for a reddish-brown (which actually looks better than the real
brown will probably look).

Some of you emailed me direct I know but thought I would broadcast a reply.

It was a disappointing haul this week I am afraid. Not cause he didnt have
anything but cause someone beat me to it!
I got there around 9.30am and he said that someone had come early and bought
nearly everything he had that day. (perhaps they read my post!)
All that were left was a 8001 (£13.50) which I bought for myself, plus some
discontinued sets that are available half price in Entertainer anyway.

However, my parents now go to this place every week and he will be getting
more in. so hopefully by the time of the legofest on 11th march I will have
some items.

turntable.

This is an announcement for the next UK LEGOFest which will be situated in
Redditch.

Count me In. At last...

I have a pre-booking on a Church Hall which we can have all day - the hall is
quite big and there is a Kitchen , Lounge-type area and a whole Bungalow of
rooms should they be needed.  The Church Leader has yet to give me a cost
although I think it will be minimal - just to cover the cost of heating and
electricity.

Plans for the event:

Monster Train Layout
"What voltage shall we have?"
"All of them!" Jon D Hayward.
I have 4.5V blue and 12V grey track and a lot of additional sets.

I have a couple hundred 9volt tracks
A metroliner and club car
A 3225 classic, 4563 & 4564 goods trains, misc wagons, including blue hoppers,
a 7722 4.5 volt
level crossings and my Metro Station Plus (on my web site)

Space Base
This is a second attempt at something that was tried a LEGOFest III: The
NorthWest Fest, I have 10 packs of Blacktron-2 Landing plates, a 6991 Unitron
Monorail and all those crater plates I've been getting from previous Fests.

I have some crater plates, plus I have my now completed near 100 stud long
large space/military vehicle. (the front of which is on my web site, I have
now completed similar sized trailer housing mechs, vehicles, etc)

Totem Pole/Tower
I won't be organising this bit but the height of hall is taller than Tony's
stairwell and we have step ladders to put on the top sections.  I won't have
the bricks to build transistional sections like Tony could.

Trading and 'Show and Tell' Areas
One of the complaints from previous Fests was the lack of space to separate
trade items from items people had brought to show people - I hope to be able • to
provide separate tables for this but I know people will just fill the space :- • )

Exterior visits
I think I may try to organise an expedition to Bromsgrove where there is a
seller who sells LEGO Parts in bags - I've seen Thatcher-Perkin wheels in some
of these bags, there is also a local toy shop which has some accessories packs
and older small sets such as Western.

How to get there?
The church is situated by Redditch's main bus and train station as well as
roads - I'll post maps etc. to a website - who is in charge of
http://come.to/legofest at the moment as I'll give you an URL to redirect to.

Overnight Accomodation
Unfortunately I can't provide accomodation since my house is so small (if • there
was 1 or 2 I may be able to wrangle something), there are Travelodge's nearby
and a few local hotels which I'll get details of if necessary.

* Basically what I need to find out now is how many people can make this event
so I can confirm the booking *

So count me in, my 12 year old son will come too.
Regards
Lawrence

QC question

Hi!

I have given QC a try and noticed that after shutting the RCX off and
restarting it, one does not go back to the QC application, but the ROM routines
are in control. I suppose some vectors have to be adjusted in order to not let
that happen?

thank you

I haven't noticed anybody mentioning this, so I will.
I wandered into Argos yesterday and noticed a half-price toy sale, on many
items.

Thanks for the tip.
Picked up the Sith at half price, a droid fighter.
They had some town and rock raiders too, but I wasnt interested.

Very annoying, as you comment, that none of this stuff was 'advertised' in any
way. You only found out if you punched in the numbers to their stock checker.
Not all sets were reduced, and many were out of stock.

Trying to understand dynamic loading

Hi!

Could anyone please explain a little how the dynamic loading facility works in
legOS? I don't seem to get at full grip on it... and I can't test it either,
right now...

Is there a loader on the RCX?
Can apps be downloaded to the RCX whithout reloading the kernel too?
How about having several apps running simultaneously?
Are the apps tailored to a specific kernel build (by means of GENLDS)?

In other words, when downloading the kernel, does it wait then for an app, more
or less like the original firmare?

thanks
/Vlad
