Wow... I’ve been straining my eyes to get a better look at this one and I
had a hand in its’ inspiration? And to think I was looking for inspiration
from it... (I still plan to).

Well, after building my Hiawatha last year I threw in the steam engine towel
for a while. The locomotive ran fine at home, but couldn’t take the bumpy
track we have at shows and it dirtied the track like no tomorrow. Then I saw
what you and Ben Fleskes came up with for splitting what should be the pilot
truck. Well, that got me back in the steam game. I’ve just uploaded my
detailed shots of the tenwheeler (they are off of my main brickshelf, under
NP, Full Gallery).
I’ll post to lugnet separately about the engine in a few days, but yes, it
incorporates great ideas from you and several other people. It is a good
runner.

I’m sorry to hear about the Hiawatha... have you localized the exact problem
when it goes into the uneven track? I’ve run into the same problem before on
most of my steamers, and I’ve found some solutions and still looking for others.
Do you have any plans to try and redesign the Hiawatha to perform better on the
show track? I’m far from an expert but I’d be happy to help out in any way I
can.
As for your NP 328 I’m thrilled to finally get to see some up close and personal
pictures. What an astounding level of detail you’ve put into it. The hatch
revealing the water tank on the back of the tender is priceless, as is the fact
you designed design the tender to have removable coal. The cab details are
fantastic, I love the look of those curved bricks marking back end of the
boiler. The SNOTwork on the boiler looks great too.
How well does it perform through points with the flanged wheels so far apart? I
have a design in mind that may require me to have such a large gap between
flanges, so it’d be nice to know how yours performs.
