Wow, was the ILTCO National Convention ever a BLAST this year! It was great to
renew friendships that have been forged over the years and to make new ones, and
the camaraderie among LEGO trainheads just keeps getting better. For you
cut-to-the-chasers, HERE
is my Brickshelf folder with all of my pics.
For our part, the TCLTC had, I believe, its best show yet. We had our biggest
layout to date, measuring 12.5 x 17.5. And, as previously announced, we
featured the amazing town buildings of Jonathan Lopes. What a great
collaboration we had! Jonathan, thanks for showing with us! Hes a great
builder and a great guy as well. And, as if that werent enough, we also were
lucky enough to be able to feature some of Pierre Normandins vehicles in our
town section as well! His trés cool (;-) revolving cement mixer was a crowd
favorite. Thank you, Pierre! We also gave 6 wider Steve Barile special
dispensation to run some of his trains on our layout;-) His original design for
auto carriers was admired by all.
Some highlights and memories:
- A TCLTC tree got tee-peed the first day! Watch your backs, COLTCers! :-)
- Pierres LEGO tattoos. We all lovedem. Me with some REAL tattooed AFOLs. BTW, nice nametags, C & J... BTW, Janey, thanks for the pink!
- Ondrew: Have you by chance seen my keys in your layout?
- The community build of a tree at Hercs
- Lars wife helping us greeble a new module. And shes quite a town builder, too. I wont make the easy slam by saying that shes a better builder than he is....oops, I guess I just did.
- The Ashcan boys: Jim, John, Jonathan.
- Steve Ringes amazing car loop. I didnt get pics, but look for them. Its an engineering marvel!
- DecoJim with a step ladder on top of his tables to place the top section of the Penobscot building. This stuff is dangerous work!
- Our new logo for the show (Jonathan is from NYC) Get it?
- Hanging around inside the layout with Lyle, Deb, Pierre, Steve, Jonathan, among others.
- Jeramys phone call at lunch-- THE AFOL nightmare. We look forward to good news on the KABOB front!
In sum, it was a great event; special thanks to Chris Leach and the host LTC
MichLTC; to Jeramy and SteveB for coordinating the event; to all of the clubs
who traveled from afar to support this event (Hi, GFLTCers!), and to Steve Witt
from TLG for the pizza party and the Dirty Brickster fodder:-)
LEGO trainheads are the best.
