Gosh darn it. All these people having fun across the country without me, how depressing. NMRA looked like it was a fantastic event, I’m exceedingly jealous of everyone who was able to attend. I’ve never been able to attend an event as a trainhead before, but I guess there’s always next year... or someday.

I’ll get you someday, John and Ross Neal! Someday!! *shakes fist in the air*

Oh, and thanks for the pics. Not too many steam engines it seems, lots of those cruddy diesels and electrics. I’ll just have to attend someday and fix that... yes... someday...

Well it would have been great to see your steam engines in person, but there were still a few steam engines on hand. Here’s a quick review of most of the ones I saw. Click on the thumbnail for a larger image, and click here for the Full Gallery

Thanks for the NMRA Steam Roster, Benn! It’s really nice to have it all at one glance. Makes one wish there was some sort of LEGO Steam Engine link list somewhere (is there?)... but I don’t wish there was one because then someone would suggest I make it and I’m just not willing. :)

There were a few more steam engines than I had mentally counted... but still they were outnumbered... a true shame. But they made a fine showing! Had I thought about it sooner I would have tried to find someone to whom I could have mailed a few steam engines for the display. Maybe next year I’ll look into that. Better yet... if things improve in my personal life, I may just be able to attend a Brickworld or an NMRA (or both!).

My ten-wheeler with a Sava/BBB inspired pilot (more to come on this locomotive)

Wow... I’ve been straining my eyes to get a better look at this one and I had a hand in its’ inspiration? And to think I was looking for inspiration from it... (I still plan to).

A Neil & Co. micro train

I’d love to see how that one is made, great use of parts from what I can make out.

Ross does house calls

Ouch! I’ve had to do that quite a few times. My fellow TexLUGgers are tired of my steam engines falling off the tables... but I blame the kids and have no interest in blaming my designs. :)

A Michigan Big Boy (Steve X?)

I’ve seen a lot of pictures of this one, I wish I could have seen it in person to watch it negotiate turns.

Brian Williams’s Frisco

This one has a real good feel to it. Of course 8-wide does that.

A Michigan 4-4-0 (Steve X?)
Yet another one I’ve been straining my eyes over. I’d have loved to see this one negotiate turns, too.

Ross’s Polar Express

I *HAVE* to attend an event where the Neals are in attendance so we can put our Polar Express together and have a BiPolar time. That is, of course, only after I am able to do the redesign I want to perform on my Polar Express passenger wagons.

A Florida 4-4-0 (Rob’s???)

I’ve not seen too many pictures of this one, I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention. Time to do more digging.

Brian Williams’s William Crooks

I love the look of this one, I really dig the custom decals/paint.

It came from Chicago (Route of the Phoebe Snow???)

I think I’ve seen this one at other events, but I’ve not seen many good pics of it... I wonder if I’ve not been paying attention again.

Brian Williams’s Kathryn

If I understand correctly this one has been around a while, but I’ve only just discovered it. The decal work is amazing.

I almost forgot to get a shot of my Hiawatha

I love your Hiawatha, and I find the switch from 8 wide on the locomotive to 7 wide on the tender to 6 wide on the wagons ingenius.

A Michiana 0-4-0... and a standard Lego steam engine

I believe I totally missed this one, but I can’t be sure, as your folder is not public as I type this.

Matt’s 20th Century Ltd.

I studied this one quite a bit while building my Tequila Sunrise. I would have enjoyed seeing it in person.

Another Big Boy, this one from KC

And like the one above, I’d love to have seen this one negotiating turns.

Gothic fantasy... next stop, Alien

Creepy, I love it!

Thanks again, Benn! I’ll also be stealing your box car design sometime in the future if you don’t mind. My locomotives almost outnumber rolling stock.
