| | Re: A question about Insulation between tracks
|
| (...) Using a catenary supply, you have (effectively) 0V at the rails, and +9V..-9V overhead for forward / reverse. So +9V gives you forward. Whichever way the train is facing, it'll go forward. Two trains on the same track facing in opposite (...) (24 years ago, 15-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) The "new 8866 motor" is just the same motor as found in 9v RC trains that have been out for a year or so. It SHOULD be capable of being powered as you suggest, 9v jumper wire to a 9v track powered motor (but I haven't tried so no promises). I (...) (15 years ago, 13-Jun-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| Hi, Not to be nitpicking but I was wondering if the new train cars (caboose etc.) should be located under LEGO > SYSTEM > Trains > 9v > My Own Train instead of LEGO > SYSTEM > Trains > 9v > Train Cars (where they are now) The box-art clearly (...) | (...) No. Well, yes. yes because it can be done. no because the 9V motor is a 2 axle "diesel or electric" motor. If you have a 12 steamer with 3 axles and siderods the best you can do is get to something sort of close in appearance, but siderod free (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) The trains are motorized, and some are lit (the engine in 4565 has a light for one end - I've wired mine for lighting at both ends). You may want to ask around for a regulator (MA13 has two with no bids right now for $9.99 for example). 4565 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

| Hi, I'm converting some 12V trains to 9V. To match the new motors as close as possable I want to have a plate _under_ the trainwheels. But while testing this 1 train had problems with a switch (it derailed) while an other didn't. Does anyone have (...) (23 years ago, 18-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)
