James,
I'm speechless!!! :-))
I was going to say "even if it's only 6-wide,it's marvellous",when I looked at
the 9 studs on the roof....It's 8-wide!!!

Nooooo!  8-wide.....  ;-)  Yes, it certainly is.  I have you to thank for the
inspiration given by your 8-wide European creations; in particular, your 8-wide
wagons are strikingly realistic with the dual slope (45 to 33 slopes) roof
lines.

I think it's your best train ever, even more beautiful of the BOB train
(but,maybe,if it was 8-wide too..... ;-)) )

BOB will not go to 8-wide.  I will leave that to someone else, if they should
like that project.

However, I am more curious to see how well the 8-wide Palantine could be made
into 6-wide.  While building in 8-wide I felt the construction impact was
primarily simply using 8-stud long pieces rather than 6-stud long to fit across
the width of the model.  I feel this Palantine model could be compressed to
6-wide fairly easily, but, I have not tried.  The biggest challenge would be to
find an appropriate brown sliding door for a 6-wide box car, since it would
certainly not be as tall as the 8-wide version.  I will leave it alone, since I
am happy with this 8-wide.

I would like to build a second passenger wagon to complete the set to the
Maerklin offering.

Also, the Palantine stock has no interior detailing.  As you and C. Masi have
shown and discussed, 8-wide offers such expansion to the world of playability.
I doubt I'll add interiors since I usually only "run" the trains, rather than
"play" inside them.  (I can easily wish to use interior accent pieces for
exteriors in other creations.)

later,
James Mathis
