Regarding size of clubs.  PNLTC has at least 18 active members, with several
more in the wings providing encouragement and support.

PNLTC uses a list serve which has 10-20 messages a day. Which may explain the
lack of our posting to lugnet.

Regarding recruiting membership, I believe having train layouts at various
shows the best way to recruit members.

Mike's right. In GMLTC which is numerically the (close to? I think PNLTC is
smaller but I'm not sure) largest train club at the mo, there are 4-6 regular
(to varying degrees) posters to Lugnet out of a good 15 members. Maybe another
2 lurkers and people who use the internet for other stuff. Half or almost half
still don't use the internet much at all, or never put together that there
might be something more out there than www.lego.com till they joined the club
and still are more interested in building than talking about it.

Why we build? Why we display? Great thread. Zonker is right, it's important that you know WHY you want to do something so that you get the most out of it. Mike wrote a great response which I mostly snipped One short interjection... (...) Mike's (...) (24 years ago, 10-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf, lugnet.general, lugnet.trains.org)
