How can I like you better than I do now? You're already aces in my book.

This Eurotrash has dumped on US soil!  Is the Acela a native US
design, or imported (partial?) technology?

Mostly imported except for the power unit. There was a big write up on
it in Trains a while back... Acela is way way behind schedule though.

Now pendularize it! :-)

I preface the following dialogue by admitting a total ignorance on naming
conventions for Technic elements.  Sorry.
Darn you!  Actually, I've been thunking about that:  Replace the 2by Technic
plates that connect to each spring-brick with a Technic axle.  Connect the
Technic axle to the spring-brick via a smooth-walled hole-to-cross-pattern gray
piece.  This allows the car to "swing-out".  A 1x2 Technic brick in the black
"rubber" coach "pass-thru" section allows passage of the Technic axle.  On
either side of the 1x2 Technic brick should be a gray Technic "washer/spacer"
to keep the monoaxle bogie from sliding along the length of the Technic axle.
Maybe???  I haven't tried this, yet.  I think a potential problem with this
"swing-out" design would be the different axes of rotation at each end of a car
through a curve.  More later...from someone else if you try it out.
Please do try, I want to see other and better designs!

later,

Sounds workable. You need to examine Erik Brok's tilting metroliner
closely for some ideas if you haven't already.

(...) I have indeed seen Erik's tilting metroliner. Very nice! I credit him for showcasing the use of the Technic spring-bricks to me in his crocodile locomotive. Master creations from Mr. Brok. I love his work. later, James Mathis (24 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)
