| | Does your train layout move? Mike Walsh
|
| | I have a small layout in my office at home set up on the floor. In our house we have hardwood floors with area rugs. My layout is right near the edge of an area rug and it keeps sliding towards the edge of the rug. I don't run the train that often (...) (25 years ago, 6-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

But I can see layouts move even on top of carpet. When a train is running, it tends to (...) (25 years ago, 6-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

The weight of the train will deflect the carpet pile downwards, and the fibres will tend to move in a circular motion vertically, like reeds in the wind. (...) Sure does, in fact, the track is indeed sliding in the direction of least resistance of the rug which makes perfect sense from a physics perspective. I am surprised that the train (...)
