The set requires the separate purchase of several power function accessories that are on back order at Lego.com until late April or early May.

8878 Battery Box http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8881&cn=57&d=70

8879 Remote Control http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8885&cn=57&d=70

The set above contains the smaller M motor (8883) instead of the XL motor (8882). I was a little surprised the set requires the XL motor I think the XL motor may be too wide for this set. Can anyone clarify the correct size PF motor?

Just to clarify the two parts I’ve left in the post are incorrect and the motor is indeed an XL (fits in the seven-wide cab). From

Tim

Thank you Tim!!!

A new controller and a new battery box going back to the old style (SMILE). I used the information from the European site that did not have photos of the PF equipment, only a list. This is great news for LEGO trains in general. I also saw photos of a new adjustable R/C train track part this morning by clicking on your link in the photo, but I am not sure if it is really LEGO yet.
