I found this post : http://news.lugnet.com/org/ca/novalug/?n=11

Maybe you have other ideas ?  What are the best pen, stickers or "stuff" we can
use to mark ?

Hi Patrick!

[Track:]
Marks on the bottom side of track have one disadvantage: you have to turn _ALL_
track pieces of a layout to find out, if some of the track made it's  way into
some unexpected part of the layout....

My track pieces are all marked with two 1x1-plates in very light grey colour (as
it came with the 3443 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/3443 mosaic only). With a fast
view I can immediately tell if some piece of track is mine or not. Some other
people around use other grey/black coloured 1x1 plates. Most have their track
marked on the bottom side.

Additionally all my track has a (not removable) green dot on the bottom side
(made with a "Edding" permanent marker).

[Baseplates:]
Personally I do not care for the bottom side of baseplates: so I use a permanent
marker to write my name to it. I saw other people using a (paper made) masking
tape with their name on it.

******

Most shows nowadays are no longer combining more than 2...3 peoples layouts
since we prefer some smaller landscape "islands" against one huge layout. So
mixing is no longer an issue in most cases.

With kind regards,

Ben
