Yes, it need to be cut (at least for one model I've built) . As far as I've
seen, only a few models use the flex tube but I have not check if the cutting
can be done to satisfy all of the models.

At least you can build the gondola with the truck AND a steam engine at the same
time with very few part substitution. Check the fifth picture here :

As you can see, it remains a lot of parts.
With 12 wheels, 6 couplers, 3 train baseplates, lot of windows/trans panels and
roof trains parts/3x4x1 slopes, this set should allow people to create quite
easily 1 engine + 2 cars trains
