Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —Timothy Gould
(...) Hi David, I've actually tried something similar to that before but didn't like the studs. The other problem with it is that it may not work since real studs are a little taller than half a plate. The best I've come up with so far is something (...)         Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —Timothy Gould
PS. And we're both ignoring the IR battery box in the centre which also has to be worked around. (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

A way to overcome the problem of the offset studs on top of the brackets would be placing a (URL) Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 Smooth without Bottom Tube> over each of them (vertical face outwards) With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen. (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —James Mathis
(...) How far does the IR sensor bulge stick out? Does the bulge make the baseplate exactly 7-wide? later, James Mathis (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —Timothy Gould
(...) I've got no idea to be honest. I assume we'd have to leave a gap but I meant more about working around the 4x10x3 battery box in the middle rather than the sensor (bad explanation I know). Tim (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —James Mathis
(...) Oh, right. Second read I realized what you meant. Here is a crude 7-wide shell built on a 6x28 train baseplate. It uses the 1x2 Technic bricks with 2-holes, the Technic Axle with stud at one end, and Technic Bushings to locate the SNOT 2x2 (...) (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains)

Seven-wide on six was Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —Timothy Gould
--SNIP-- (...) Nice. I've just uploaded a (URL) IR baseplate mockup> for people to play with. The grey plate on top may or may not exist. I'm not sure about it. Tim (18 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 7-Wide BNSF & TTX Intermodal Train & Crane —James Mathis
(...) I'm ignoring the IR bulge, as well. But, here is another try at it: (URL) fence method probably has interference with the fact that a stud height would interfer-- it doesn't in CAD, but we remember that studs are greater than 1/2 plate thick, (...)
