liberally from Ben Beneke's work figuring he would have got it working.

Please let me know what you think and how I can improve.

Dear Tim,

you did an excellent job on your Russion L-Class! I enjoyed it a lot to surf
through your gallery and compare that with the real stem engines you have
linked.

I would love to see that design done in real bricks. Concerning the wheel
arrangement it is the same as with the BR50 of German made. As far as I can
recognize you have found your own way to negotiate curved track. I would like to
see a bottom picture of your wheel groups.

With my design of the BR50 I had grouped first three axles (very first can
steer) and last three ones (middle one can slide sidewards) to one group each.
as to be seen here:

That has been really reliable: this engine has done several weeks of service in
total at 1000steine and Legoworld shows and it hasn't derailed ever even on
rough track.

Concerning potential to improve your loco I can make out only two minor weak
spots: I miss the feeding pump (or whatever) in the very front (on left hand
side in driving direction). And I think you may find a way to improve the
ladders which lead up to the drivers cab. Those are sloped and reach nearly to
the ground with the real engine. Maybe you find a better way to use the LEGO
ladder part or you may even find another built version to substitute these parts
(which I personally do not favour too much).

But this isn't meant as criticism at all. You did a great job! And I love the
round tile at the front face side of the boiler and the "cow catcher" (rail
guard?) esspecially.

Leg Godt!

Ben

--SNIP-- Dear Ben, Thank you for your comments. As I mentioned in the first post, your models were quite a learning (thieving ;)) point for me. (...) I would love to see it made real too and was going to try it until I discovered that the wheels (...) (19 years ago, 28-Dec-05, to lugnet.trains)
