Correct. The trucks stay on the same pivot point at all times. The drive
wheels simply move away(towards the back) from the front truck around the
curves.
There are no springs used anywhere. The drive wheels are not attached to the
front truck other then the sliding joint. When the body is pulled off, the
drive wheels simply pull away from the front truck.
Does that explain it?
