  Little switcher

G'Day Just wanted to post the start of a quick little model using the 'new' 1x3x1 curved top brick. (URL) wait until these are available in other colours to build some nice passenger cars. Cheers Oliver Play Well! (20 years ago, 6-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

Re: Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

(...) Hi James, thanks for sharing your latest design here! I agree with you, that Larry built the so far best trucks and that Benn's dark grey windscreens might be the so far best solution for the dome. At least in kids hands that design will be (...)   Signal Gantry

(URL) LLL, we had a nice event this week, building a signal gantry together with 1000+ people from the German Railway Company (Deutsche Bahn). They had a works meeting in Frankfurt this Thursday and were invited to help building the model. Pictures: (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.events, FTX) !

Microtrains for your Maersk container ship

(URL) I'm not stealing thunder from legotrains, (or way behind the curve and this got announced long long ago) but WOW that's cool... Add a few gantry cranes and you're really rocking! (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.boats) !

Re: Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

(...) It has caused me a lot of problems, as the friction increase in my experience has been a lot more than "slight"... problems including bogie pins wearing out, shearing off, and in general leaving a lot more plastic dust around, as well as (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

(...) The other way to strengthen it is to add another 2x4 technic plate above that one, at 90 degrees. It does increase the friction slightly on the bogie pin, but that's never caused me any problems to date. ROSCO (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

(...) Hey James I just looked at your dome car and its a really nice. I still like the first one you made. Although this one did give me an idea on new dome. I took the dome off of your car and made a new one. (deep link) (URL) used the 2x2 round (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

(...) Nice work. I am glad that my truck design stood you in good stead and that you were able to suss it out from the pics I posted. That's a nice circle, you posted a new idea, I cribbed from it and you cribbed back! How it is supposed to work. (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Super Chief Pleasure Dome...another one

It's another dome car. Another try. I'm not completely satisfied with this design, but here is a try at a non-curved-window (URL) Pullman-Standard dome with full instructions>. Sorry the instructions aren't formatted well-- just a core dump from (...) (20 years ago, 5-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Who is the owner of the Red Tram in the second pic? And are there more detailed pictures of it. I couldnt find any really clear pics from the show.   Re: Getting diagonal track to line up properly?

(...) Having done a few experiments with real track, I used Excel to tell me whether particular combinations of track pieces would line up. Since the spreadsheet can do it, I used accurate figures for the track geometry. I then made tables of each (...) (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting diagonal track to line up properly?

(...) The link I sent is the program I used to work out the diagonal and other layout designs. I have not used the one LAR recommended but will try it out now. As far as other programs I could not say, but you can all ways search Lugnet's newgroups (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting diagonal track to line up properly?

(...) Both seem to work only on Windows though. Pity it wasn't written in REALbasic; then I could just bug the author to click the "Mac OS" and "Linux" checkboxes. :) Does anyone happen to know of anything available for the Mac? Thanks, - Joe P.S. (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Large train wheels

(...) Dear Thomas, I am quite sure that has to be a wheel from the "FALLER Hit Train", which has been quite popular in the past.... I own a handful of such wheels in black but have never used them, since they are too similar to real LEGO wheels. So (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

  Large train wheels

I found this one wheel among my LEGO, some of it is quite old. The one on the left is the original large train wheel. What is the one on the right? Is it LEGO? (URL) Best regards Thomas (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Getting diagonal track to line up properly?

(...) now. If you're a long time user, it works fine, although it's not extensible. New users would be well advised to look into TrackDraw instead... way more features, extensible menus, and the format is XML rather than obscure opaque object dumps (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)
