Why does the release date keep getting pushed back in the US? When I pre-ordered mine, the shipping date was November 11, 2004. Then it got pushed back to November 24th. Now it says it will ship by december 8th! What going on? -Juan (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) You should go! Heading up the mountain on a shay is quite an experience. Remember to take a coat, you will be amazed by the temperature change when you get to the other side of the mountain. Expect several hours traveling from DC though. (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Yep it does make a nice sound, with the 2 motors whirring. I've actually just yesterday re-built it using the un-geared motors, to see if I could get it running close to the same speed as a train motor, and the reduction in volume is amazing! (...) Because the drive shafts are geared faster than the axles (12:20) this means the pistons run slower than the (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Great looking shay, very close the the real #2. Boy that guy is huge, (10 wide) definitly not minifig scale. Does the pistons run also.
