  Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

I missed the initial post the first time I read about this, but my first thought was magnets. My wife (a non-AFOL) thought magnets too when I showed her the video. I've noticed the train magnets are strong enough to make the magnets twitch on trains (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) snip (...) Wow Eric, Spotlighted! That is SO totally cool!!! I showed my kids and they were amazed, as am I. Truly, imho, it's MOCs like that, that will make HO modelers think twice about the "limitations of the brick". Way to go! Nicely (...)   Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) That's exceedingly cool. But since I don't have an RCX, it makes me wonder whether something similar could be done without it. Perhaps a small lever that's pressed by the train as it goes past, which is connected by a hidden string to the (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Hogwarts Express 4-6-0 engine

(...) Teunis, thanks for the info. I'm in the procces of changing my enigine from a 6s wide base and 7stud cab to a 7s base and 8s cab, with a 5 stud boiler. Now I can lengthen the engine 2 more studs without creating unsightly gaps between the (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.harrypotter)

  Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) So simple and so very cool! That is a great piece of eye candy for a train layout, super job! jt (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) Thanks :) (...) Well, the only limit I see is from the power of the RCX and/or its number of outputs. You can easely modify the programm, by example in order to add sensors or outputs to control 3 or more cows. For my part, I have only two (...)   Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) This is officially the coolest MOC I have ever seen. Other than space and brick constraints, is there a limit to the number of cows you could rig this way? And is it possible to vary the rate of motion slightly between animals? In any case, (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, FTX)

BBB Steam Wheels session at BrickFest

Hi All, There is a session/workshop at BrickFest on the topic of Ben's (Big Ben's Bricks) steam engine drivers. There will be samples of two new wheel designs that Ben has made. This session was first held at PDX BrickFest and although it was very (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.events)

Re: Steam engine complex wheelbases (was: BBB wheels sales)

(...) Teunis - I'm not sure more photographs would help, as I'm trying to convert even more of it to plain black at the moment! Tell me what parts of it you can't work out, and I'll try to do some more coloured images in MlCAD. If you did four (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Steam engine complex wheelbases (was: BBB wheels sales)

(...) Hello I really like your steamtrain wheelbase design ! Do you have any more pictures ? It give me some ideas on how to build a Steam train using 8 BBB drive wheels. Using both a combination of my design and your design. A 4 8 4 steam train or (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Hogwarts Express 4-6-0 engine

(...) I use 6 BBB Beta wheels in my steam train. It's a 4 6 2. When I was building the test chassie's for the trains wheels. I tried six and seven stud spacing between the wheels. I end up using seven studs. I found that it would derail aswell, and (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Hogwarts Express 4-6-0 engine

(...) Jason, Thanks for the heads up. I'm real happy with what I have, as it's simple. As it is, if one wheel is pushed in, it can only push the other middle wheel to the same extent as the front and back drive wheels, so no rubbing. Also I wanted (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What are these Japanese trains?

(...) Suspend it from the catenary to keep it upright - or use the LegWay software to balance it. Not worth the money though... Jason Railton (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Hogwarts Express 4-6-0 engine

(...) Mine, a few posts back, uses technic flex for drive rods. That keeps the total width down. my folding wheels also don't put any pressure on the outer wheel when the inner one is pushed in, which could make the outer rod rub. The disadvantages (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.trains)
