Mine, a few posts back, uses technic flex for drive rods. That keeps the total
width down. my folding wheels also don't put any pressure on the outer wheel
when the inner one is pushed in, which could make the outer rod rub.
The disadvantages are that the wheel folding in (rather than sliding sideways)
can make the technic axle pin from the connecting rod rub slightly in the wheel
hole. You also need to chop up some flex to get the short lengths for the rods.
