We used roadplates under the rails in the town because the light rail system
that runs through and around Portland does run down the streets in some
areas. We tried to model the Convnetion Center scene as closely as possible
and the MAX line runs right along side it. It's hard to get the exact look
of tracks on roads so we did the best what we could with what we had. I
agree that in general rails on roads might look a bit funny. One really nice
solution is gray rails (no ties) on te side of the road on the plate and use
batt powered trains. Ben did that several years ago and it really looked nice.
