Re: Q? 4512 Buffer (was: Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!)

(...) Another interesting one I noticed. Apparently in LEGOworld people are really tall. Notice the 11 1/3 M clearance label on the crane? I'm pretty sure the clearance is 11 bricks and one plate... So therefore, 1 brick height equals 1 M. Or maybe (...) (22 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Q? 4512 Buffer (was: Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!)

(...) Ya, me too. They do that a lot, don't they, label the obvious? Wouldn't want any minifig passengers thinking these containers are deluxe accomodations by mistake... (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) I think this is overreacting. Larry's just as entitled to respond from his perspective as is anyone else. And yeah, it might grate when he gets more info than the rest of us, but if it wasn't for ILTCO we wouldn't have these pictures at all! (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Q? 4512 Buffer (was: Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!)

I wonder if there are two scoops in every box? ;) If not, we'll all be buying two sets! SteveB PS And where's the rasins for the red hopper! (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) most 'North American' locomotives... If that's what it turns out to be, I consider that a good sign that Lego is starting to recognize the fact that not all trains look like European models.   Q? 4512 Buffer (was: Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!)

(...) Oh, man! Thanks! I hadn't realized this. Now I have a question for everyone. Sorry if I've missed this in another message thread... What is the black piece beneath the buffer on the front of the 4512 freight locomotive? Is that a new element (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 0-4-0 Switcher

(...) Hi Stefan, Thanks for the feedback! I'm having trouble picturing what you're saying about the steps though ... do you have a picture (either LEGO or real-life) of what you're thinking about that I can check out? Thanks again! -s (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) D'oh! I didn't even notice that! Too busy trying to figure out which elements are new and which ones will be useful... Like there was ever any doubt that I'll get at least one copy of every train set Lego comes out with. :-) JohnG, GMLTC (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) My apologies... the tail end of the post did seem to be asking questions of the Organizing Committee, yes, so forgive me if I thought you were asking me about that too. Sorry if I misinterpreted it. ++Lar (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) Uhm, maybe just once or twice... <grin> (or about 50 times!!) (...) I *really* like the Max figure. The overalls he's wearing are such a great simple little torso design, and the dark grey 'glove' hands are a perfect touch. I had to open a (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) That's Engineer Max! Haven't you been to (URL) in the last year? I presume him at the controls of a train is the new symbol for Lego trains (at least at the time these boxes were drawn up), since the same motif appears on all the boxes. All, (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) Did I ask *you* the question??? Cripes, I didn't mean to intrude on the precious holy turf of the ILTCO... Thank you for looking down your nose at me and treating me like <??> for asking a simple question. JohnG, GMLTC and, I just dropped my (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOCs: town vehicles and a tie crane for train

Neat stuff! I especially like the camper and the tie crane. The camper especially, is very nice. It has all those little camper details, like lights and tarp. Cool. -Stefan- (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.town, lugnet.trains)

  Re: 0-4-0 Switcher

As always, awesome engine Shaun! The Boiler design especially, is nice with all the different angles, surfaces, curves, SNOT, etc. I think it needs steps on the pilot though, doesn't it? Especially since it's a yard switcher. Just put those 1x2 (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 0-4-0 Switcher

(...) I think they're there to spread the 'pull' of the train buffer/magnet over a larger area. The buffer has tabs that fit into the clips. By spreading the stress out a bit more it makes it less likely that the buffer will pull off the motor. (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Box Art for 2003 LEGO Train Products!

(...) Question on the #4514 ((URL) does the drawing at the bottom-left show the minifig with the red kerchief and blue hat, when he's not included in the set? Is he there because he's in one of the other sets? To me, that little drawing looks like (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 0-4-0 Switcher

(...) Ahhh, I get it. The "gap" in the clip matches a brick's wall thickness, right? Hmmmmm, interesting .... I never noticed that! I'll have to see if I can make use of it. Thanks, Lar. -s (22 years ago, 28-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)
