  Re: image sizes on Brickshelf

(...) I believe it's part of IE6 and XP. Haven't tested it myself, of course :) Dan (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: image sizes on Brickshelf

(...) What version of IE does this? If you click on an image while in a file view, it will load just the image (not in a web page). In every browser I have ever seen this causes the image to be shown actual size (with scroll bars if necessary). KL (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: image sizes on Brickshelf

(...) Good point. I've uploaded some whoppers in the past too, usually when I'm rushed. But I'd tend to say no more than screen size (1024x768 or maybe even 800x600 or even 640x480) unless you really WANT people to have to pan and scan to capture (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  image sizes on Brickshelf

After looking at Ben's pictures I had a question for everyone. I find it difficult to take in the entire picture when I have to scroll. I was wondering if anyone else had any feelings about what the optimal size pic is to post (on say, Brickshelf). (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: train 3 pics uploaded on brickshelf

Thanks for the pics! Are there any more pics of the sculpted areas of the layout. Can you give a description of the infrastructure you use to achieve the different levels. Also, I would like to see better pics of that bi-level blue and gray commuter (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

train 3 pics uploaded on brickshelf

hi, just posting to say that I've uploaded the pics I took at Train 3 (in Toronto, Canada). Here is my lugnet lego page w/ descriptions: (URL) is the actual brickshelf page: (URL) and enjoy!! Benjamin Medinets (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.trains)

Re: Gear and Axle Strength (was Re: Power Pullin' With My Tractor)

(...) Well, I've been experimenting with macaroni bearings, and had some pretty good results. You can attach 24 & 40 tooth gears directly to the 2x2 rounds - this means the axle only has to take all the load at one small point. I haven't yet tested (...)   Re: New train MOC - 0-6-0+0-6-0 Beyer-Garratt locomotive

(...) Nice work, Frank! A 3-axle 9V motor with rods would be soooo nice! I can verify that lack of rods loses a lot (URL) though I didn't spend much time on it. And yes, I know I spelt Garratt wrong - I'll change it when it's easy to change (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Point Motor Instructions

(...) don't risk damaging the point or the motor. I will get around to DATting one of mine, eventually - though it doesn't make such a cute little shack. Jason J Railton (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

(...) It's Harry Cane's license plate, so it appears in many sets (I think basically every set which has a vehicle of Harry's). Frank (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

I think the train was to be built using these black plates but then the design changed to allow an electric light to be added. On top of the boiler, instead of using the 4 black 1x1 plates with horizontal clip and the 2 black town umbrella stands. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Point Motor Instructions

(...) The hole at the end of the lever attaches to the top of the standard-issue yellow point lever. The + shaped hole in the baseplates will seat over the lever housing in an obvious way. I usually listen for my points to click, but you might want (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

(...) The part in question has two handles. These are horizontal and at end of the plate. Here is a reference: (URL) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  New train MOC - 0-6-0+0-6-0 Beyer-Garratt locomotive

I finally got around to doing some building. I've been doing a bit of tossing around in my mind a Beyer-Garratt after seeing the My Own Train engines. I've also been figuring out what passenger cars I will be making as I've been collecting train (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc)

Re: Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

(...) If you are referring to a black 1x2 plate with handle then I am using over 120 of them on a bridge project I am constructing presently. -Rob (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

Has anyone found a useful purpose for the 4 black plates 1 x 2 with handles (Type 2) part number 3839b which are included in the small loco set 3740. They are not used in either of the two engine designs of this set as detailed in the instruction (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Point Motor Instructions

(...) What does the lever engage? How easy is it to tell when the turnout is at the right location? I can see the value of building at least a couple of these for our show layout. Our layout had one turnout which was basically impossible to reach (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Gear and Axle Strength (was Re: Power Pullin' With My Tractor)

(...) Has anyone tried making an axle of 2x2 round bricks with bearings made from 1x4 arch bricks? I just played with it a little and it looks like the bearing would work ok. You could also make a bearing from macaroni bricks, but I think it would (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)
