Well, I finally got around to checking out the SCLTC pics. Wow. Really
nice. A little frustrating to navigate, but excellent detail and
overview shots.

Some things I particularly noticed and liked:

The rope stanchions around the layout. Very sharp. The double rope
probably prevented more mishaps than you know!

The soundproofing wall around the residential section is inspired. Don't
think I've ever seen any layout do that before, but of course it's a
great and obvious (in retrospect) feature.

I would have been surprised not to see an In-n-Out on the layout, after
you guys raved about it when we were visiting LLCA. Nice.

Great looking university. Compact!

The 747 is awesome. Great use of the white cylinder part!

The "Visit us online" billboard is brilliant. Functional and
appropriate! I think you may find PNLTC nicking that idea...

I like all the sand-green trees.

Great looking open space in the seaport. It's tough to leave blank space
like that, but it really makes the seaport look more realistic! Good
looking cargo crates, too (the open-sided ones).

Finally, fantastic detailing. All the traffic lights, railroad
crossings, street lights, and little mini-scenes going on really
contribute to a sense of life on the layout. The whole layout is very
clean-looking.

Nice work guys! Us other clubs got our eyes on you!

Read our article on the event and check out our extensive photo gallery of

Blue Ribbon, but those are expected to come soon, so keep your eye out!

Please check it out and let us know what you think at www.scltc.org.
