The connector rail is still available direct from LEGO here in the UK, and
no doubt from other countries too. Hopefully this link is valid:

The price here is 5.19GBP (~7.35USD) plus s&h. The set number is 5063 if you
want to try searching for it in your local country.
This version uses hard-wired connectors. I believe that your description is
of a prior (or later?) version where it was valid to put the individual
wires into holes under the conductor rails. I'm sure that someone who knows
12v can confirm or deny this!
The cables with different size plugs (#5065) are also still available at
