Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Cool (...) What a feast for the eyes! Check out the architecture to the rear of page 69 and the MonoRail on page 94. Jon (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Znap use for station roof

Eric Brok wrote in message ... (...) Did you use anything for glass, or is it just the frame? I guess if one were desperate for LEGO pure glass material for such a large expanse, one could use larger parts bags from sets, and use little bits of (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Znap use for station roof

I used znap to build a classic iron-and-glass platform roof (with large arches). Looks ok. No pics yet. Eric (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

Thanks for the pointer, that is a cool idea book. But I am left wondering, are those bridges really strong enough? The brigde on page 86 is pretty short, but the one on page 79 is fairly long (3 tracks). Just wondering out loud. Thanks, Chris P.S. I (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

(...) Yep. Just a single gap works fine. The period that the motor is bridging both power supplies will not substantially affect either one. The motor may stall if you have the 2 power supplies giving opposite polarities of near the same voltage, (...) (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

(...) Mindstorms has more than 2 voltage outputs (8+, you can write a program to split it in NQC to 100 discrete power levels, from 0.01 sec power on to 1. sec power on) I have a fair amount of experence doing exactly what you are proposing to do, (...) (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Isolating rails

(...) Yup, I used this method for the 12 to 9V signal conversion. You can read more about it on my webpage: (URL) have also been thinking about isolating two stretches to use different powersupplies in one layout. I'm a little puzzled how to do it, (...) (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) There are other precedents for this sort of bridge. See (URL) particular, pages 79 and 86. This is my favorite train idea book. It also has a roller coaster on page 88. /Eric McC/ (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Ah. Set 344, Bungalow. Thanks, Frank! That explains why all my former attempts to find it using search terms like 'house' and 'chalet' failed :) Simon (URL) (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Note the bridge, it's made out of blue rails. We have seen several AFOL creations that do that, but I had no idea there was a precedent for it. Cool ++Lar (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) It's set 344 (in Pause (URL) ) I have posted a same mail via my newsclient over 5 hours ago, but it didn't appear so now I post it via the web. If the other post also comes through later then my apologies for the double posting. -- Frank (...) (25 years ago, 6-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

  Isolating rails

Has anyone tried making isolating rails? By this I mean a purposely modified section of track with a cut in one or both rails (can be done with a modelling grinder etc.). All the postings I have read refer to using 1 stud gaps between the rail ends (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How high are train cars.

(...) If you put a wagon plate on a 2 axle bogie which utilizes a bogie plate then you will be 4 bricks high as it stands on the track. The LEGO platforms which come with the train station are 2 bricks high. You could stack 2 ramp platforms and (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

  How high are train cars.

I'm building a train station with passenger platforms and I'm wondering how high to make the platforms. Currently I only have two axle train cars, but I'm plaining to get some of the dual boggy cars in the future. I'd like the platform to be the (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Hmmmm - towards the bottom left of that picture is a small house with a red roof and an arrangement of black and white tiles in front. Anyone happen to know what set number it is? It's one of my favourite sets from the seventies - but I've so (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Three more 8w train pics

(...) Gianluca, Thanks for posting these photos of your creations. They're wonderful. I particularly like the stud-up and stud-down orientation of the arches used on the side of the EMD f7 locomotive. What a nice circular hole of good proportion. (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) I'm sorry,no informations are available. Yes,it was on an italian encyclopedia at the voice "toys". It seems to feature official Lego sets,so maybe it's an official Lego picture. Bye Gianluca (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) Do you have more information as to the source of the picture? Do you mean it was pictured in an encyclopedia (like Brittanica)? (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

(...) That's so cool. Check out that mountain! How many pieces in that??? And the station's a winner too!!! Some of the older stuff is really good, as it predated this morbid facination of juniorisation that TLC has developed. With less specialised (...)   Lego layout from the seventies

Hi all,I've put this old pic (I'm very fond of it) on brickshelf gallery. www.brickshelf.com/g...pedia0.jpg It is a lego train layout from the seventies, that was on an old encyclopedia of mine (since its name) . I really like it,because it's like I (...) (25 years ago, 5-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)
