(...) Yes, the buffer beam is a brighter red. That pic, with the light on it but not on the body side, shows the difference a bit clearer than some of the pics I found. The GMLTC had our layout set up at the Minnesota Transportation Museum's Jackson Street Roundhouse for several months, it just about destroyed the club. What wasn't mentioned in the article is that Lego plans to discontinue electric trains, and also that they are mostly sold on the internet.
