The problem with having the footplate fixed and the bogie moving underneath (a la real thing) is one of clearances due to the size of the Lego motor (...) (...) How about a long rubber band that's connected both ends to the pilot, and through a hole of some kind in the boiler? So it can slide side to side? This page: (URL) not seem to be updated anymore? This is a shame. The effort put into updating should be minimal, as ILTCO has a form that easily allows transporting this info to Lego.
