  NMRA Convention Accomodations

I'm seriously considering making the trip but I'm not sure what day(s) would be the best to attend. If I can't get a reasonable price on a NW flight I'd probably drive up to NW Chicago after work on Thursday and then the rest of the trip Friday, or (...)   Macs (was Re: GMLTC Teaser page)

(...) I have to agree with John :-) Mac's don't rule, too low a market share to say that. They are merely far superior to those kludgy Wintel abominations. And it's all in the OS. I wish they made it for other hardware so those of you without Macs (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.general)

Re: cool suggestion: create a 9v train idea book

like I said in my post... someone get a HP and publicly post the user/pass. that way if you have a model to post.. you can add to it. (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: cool suggestion: create a 9v train idea book

I think this is a great idea! Formatting would be of the upmost importance for the 'book' to come together as a whole. I would suggest the criteria be at the very least photographs in three resolutions, followed by ldraw instructions, then POV (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Is 4555 going to be a rare set?

I've seen 4555 on auction. Was that set discontinued in USA? Well, I'm not (yet) a train-maniac, neither I want to put one on auction by myself. I'm just curious. There's plenty of 4555 on the shelves here in Italy, but if the set is going to be (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: GMLTC Framework comments

John 1 and I were thinking the same thing yesterday about a text nav bar as well. Always happy to take suggestions. :-) I have a stack of around 40 pictures to scan and setup on the page. I hope to get a few more up today, but it's been busy, and I (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

Re: cool suggestion: create a 9v train idea book

We (PNLTC) have discussed this also. A printed version of such a book would be great but costly. An electronic version sounds very do-able. How would the submissions be accepted? On what criteria? Would they all be accepted? Are there any ldraw (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: GMLTC Teaser page

The logo is almost refixed, John and I have been working on it. He read his docs and knows how to produce standard gif files now. Everyone else, thanks for your help! I agree about putting some hints on each car so you don't have to mouse over (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: GMLTC Teaser page

The page looks great! I like the Milwaukee RR "like" LOGO. We (PNLTC) have been looking for help in the logo department forever. None of us are graphic artists. I know my way around Photoshop and other graphics apps but the eye is more important (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.general)

  Re: More train ranting (sorry)

(...) In fact, it appears in several non-train sets: 6433, 6435 and 6453. I would say that claiming that it is designed for the train line is a bit controversial. But then again, I don't have the insight in the TLG design process that others may (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: and the worst train lego has ever made is...

(...) Uffda, and right here in my own backyard! IMHO the merger between Burlingtion Northern (excellent color scheme) and the Santa Fe (another classic scheme) to form the BNSF produced an abhorrant conglom. What a waste of perfectly rotten colored (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Modifying 4559 - Not that Bad!

I recently bought a 4559 and modified it making it a solid passenger train. None of this portable compartment shit! I think it kinda works! Ireally like yelloew and black together! I don't really buy lego trains for realism - more escape-ism. I also (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

Re: and the worst train lego has ever made is...

Larry, I would have to say yellow and white. Unless they have a Miami ViceLiner, I don't think we have a match. They are UGLY together. Of course, I have seen some ugly schemes... Mike (...) on your (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: GMLTC Teaser page

Unless PageMill has dramatically improved (I last used it about two years ago), it is a pretty weak product in my opinion. It was okay for building a page but lousy when it came to site management. My brother-in-law (a professional graphic designer) (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.general)

  Re: A4 British Locomotive

Hi Doug, Looks like a good start! Did you build it with the boiler top horizontal to begin with? Does the stepped top in the photos look better?   A4 British Locomotive

Ok, got the pics scaned, and they look good! Point your browser to (URL) navigate to the A4 click on Lego, then Trains, then scroll down a bit and click on the LNER A4 Loco text. You now should be @ (URL) I would like you guys to hit the counter :) (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build)

(...) GE erecting shops prior to applying the real/final paint (other than white), their primer is pinkish, or was. But I admit, pink is not a very popular color, I had to stretch. Try one using the 5 primary lego colors... heck, I'll even let you (...) (25 years ago, 31-May-99, to lugnet.trains)
