Re: Un-powered replacement for train motor

Cool, I was working on one of these too. (URL) did mine a little differently. By replacing the bogie plate with a 2x2 plate with a pin out the top, the 1x2 plates with the center bump could be placed in the groove part of the train wheels. This (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) I checked out the pics, but they are kinda fuzzy, so they are a little hard to see the 1/5th. Can you describe how it is designed? Do you happen to have a .dat file for it? Thanks! Jake --- Jake McKee AFOL LUGNET Member #211 (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  SCLTC meeting on July 14th

Hey all, The Southern California LTC is having its next meeting on July 14th at my (John Gramley) house starting around 10am. I live in Escondido which is about an hour and 15 minutes south and east of Brad Hamilton's place. Directions are near the (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) That's quite impressive, to have both the inset sides and the lettering. But, it only shows the two halves being kept 4 plates apart (5 plates = 2 studs). It doesn't appear to have any way of locking them in place on the body of the wagon. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) No .dat file, but Gianluca Morelli does an amazing job of demonstrating his technique with a pencil. His solution does this very nicely in 6-wide. I had the privilege of seeing the ITLUG car in the flesh at PNLTC's Guinness World Record (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

9v Track Needed for Brickfest Train Room

In order to create an awe-inspiring 9v layout, we're going to need some more 9v track. From local volunteers we have approximately 600+ pieces, but given the size of the room (about 60' x 60') we have room for plenty more. So, if you are able, (...) My SNOTgon uses headlight bricks for the 1/5 stud offset. Check it out: (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

Ah, now since one stud is exactly 2 1/2 plates, a 1/5 stud offset is equivalent to half a plate. That's equivalent to the indentation on the face of a headlight brick, or the height of its base lip, or the 1x4 face of one of those 1x2-1x4 brackets. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  SNOT Meeting at HoMa's house/garden

Hi @ll, last Sunday we had a little so called "SNOT Meeting" at my house and garden. It was a fantasic sunny day and Markus' 6-wide MOCs and mine 8-wide MOCs had really big fun while being "played" outside in the garden. Other participants were (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

(...) Jake, I found the message James Mathis asked... Did you use this design? (URL) was inspired by Gianluca's original design for the odd offset, but ended up with a different construction. I'm not sure my solution is "1/5" offset. There was some (...) (23 years ago, 3-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Retraction about offset stud on box cars and stuff

Some time ago I said that I didn't think that adding the ribbing details--a la the 1/5 stud offset--was worth the extra bricks that it would cost me.[1] I guess I was extrapolating from my own tries at a 1/2 stud offset (which were less than (...) (23 years ago, 2-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)
