What is the maximum length of a single carriage.

I'm trying to build a carriage, I've decided on 8 wide, mainly because of the parts I have. What I want to know is, what is the maximum length it can be and still go around corners? I'm at about 40 studs at the moment, but it may need to be a little (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jun-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: "No Contact" Homebrew Train Sensor for Mindstorms

(...) Hi Tony - I haven't had a Mindstorms for long, but I've already built an automated level crossing. The Mindstorms is based around the Lego 'RCX'. This is a large brick, about the size of the old 4.5V battery boxes, but with some very special (...) (23 years ago, 31-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

How wide (in inches) is a piece of track?

I'm working on little project here at the office (and I don't have any track here) and I need to know what the width of a piece of track. I know it's 6 studs, but what does that come out to in inches? If someone has a piece of track and a ruler (...) (23 years ago, 31-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) For a passive tilt mechanism: It depends on where the pendular axis is located. If the axis of rotation is above the wagon's center of gravity, then the wagon would tilt such that the base of the wagon swing out in the curve- a "correct" tilt. (...)
