Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

(...) Yeah, yeah, we know. They're not eight-wide. 8^) (...) If I may make a guess, though, Muffinhead isn't speaking about the scrupulous LEGO representation of detailed trains as they appear in the real world; he's saying that the average (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) LOL You are SOOOOO wrong! (IMNSHO;-) (...) You are between 1st and 2nd and the throw to home has been cut off. This is what happens when muffinheads start talking trains;-) -John (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

(...) Hey, speaking of Ron and his awesome Shay, it was a pleasure for me to meet him and see his MOC in person at the Kidvention last summer. His Shay has working pistons and all. Are there pics of it on the web somewhere? -John (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

[snip] (...) Wow! Those are the price ranges I was hoping for but I did not expect them. Guess I will be ear marking money for several of those just for parts. Woo Hoo! -Mike Petrucelli aka Lord Insanity (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

(...) Well, perhaps you should look at it from a sales perspective. Diesel engines (IMO) look like a shoebox with wheels. The trains currently on shop.lego.com are far more interesting to look at (IMO) than a diesel engine would be. Things that (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: Coal Car Question

(...) Ah, you would be meaning: (URL) the Coal Unloader it be!) Note, I don't run the train through in one piece, but break it up. Depending on installation, the system varies. I doubt it is possible with the current lego parts available to build (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Pneumatically driven locomotive ??

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever succeeded in putting together a pneumatically driven train? Reading through some of the posts regarding the new S@H train offerrings, I got to thinking that it could probably be done - it would make an (...) (23 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) We're not arguing about anything important. They are what they are. I think we could agree that they're not representative of anything in particular. That said, you're wrong. :-) Let's put it this way. To this American, they don't look (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) no. The two truck one looks more like a Mallet. Never mind a shay, which Ron Kittle (?) built _ages_ ago :) James (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

(...) But the Thatcher Perkins is, like, more than twice as large as today's trains. And it still doesn't implement the correct kind of pushrod/cylinder movement. If a LEGO set was perfect to the degree that there wasn't any room to improve it, (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Predictions on What to come

(...) You are correct. The statement with each new set is that you can obtain a motor (and a light set) for your new engine, but does not come with one. They are just shells, ready to fit a motor within it. Which, for me is ok, since I have a few (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 20 (yes TWENTY) new trains at LEGO.com/Shop - Themes | Trains

(...) It's not so much the design as the colour scheme. The configuration of the ones without tenders is pretty European, but the large cabs on the tender engines and the panelled style is typically American - European engines tended to be more (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Predictions on What to come

(...) Hmm - still have my doubts about this. The train motors are expensive enough. Can you imagine how much TLC would charge for digital controlled versions? If you look at the photos on S@H again you'll see some show a 9V motor fitted. I presume (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Huge layout

(...) No, it is Lillebaeltsbroen in Denmark between Funen and Jutland. The arcticle says that it is not glue, but only due to the construction it can carry its own wight. Still, a lor of bridges might look like this one. Also the red engine (pic3) (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.town)

(...) lol the ink is barely dry from your farewell post, Kai;-) You are welcome back:-) (...) An astute observation, Lar. These sets are not in the 45xx numbering system, so they really aren't a normal 9 volt system release. What they are, however, (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Predictions on What to come

(...) Welcome back, Kai. There are no new parts in these sets. There *are* old parts in new colors. But that does put a cap on how much of an investment TLC made. However, ANY investment is welcome. And this, especially, was done differently than (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.trains)
