  Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

Hi Larry/James, You hit the nail on the head, Larry ... although the short term goal was to have this ready for the trainshow, I did select it specifically on the basis of continuing work on it later. I intend to build two or three more cars for (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A Whole New Breed of Tank Car

Hi Chris, ... ooh, I like the looks of that. Maybe we should consider adding a manta ray into the mix as well. Hmmmmmmm. Sadly, I haven't quite worked out the exploding aquarium glass yet, either. I'm still butting my head against the wall trying (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How will Ben top last year? (summit talk?)

(...) Yes fair enough, though to me (the simple non legal minded folk), the fact that a company or a person isnt opening up means they've got something to hide. Now I'm not saying this to you personally Larry but in general terms. Surely if (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Announcing my new website: A database of photos of British railway wagons

As some of you know, back in the '80's I used to spend a lot of time photographing railway wagons in the UK. I have decided to do something useful with all my photos, and have extablished a new web site to display them. The URL is (URL) has nothing (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Points (was: Re: How will Ben top last year? (summit talk?))

(...) Couldnt TLG go back to the less stiff points they used to use, i.e. undo whatever change they made? Wouldnt that help those wishing to mechanise their points? (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How will Ben top last year? (summit talk?)

(...) Except for kidding around, I've been fairly careful, because if one indeed says "no" to the no things and "no comment" to the yes things, one IS giving information. To be correct, one has to say "no comment" to everything, yes OR no. And I (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How will Ben top last year?

(...) No comment. The public story is that it was the first, and that's the story I am sticking to. :-) :-) ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

(...) 52 is the Kriegslok, the war built engines. 50 was the pre war 2-10-0's, made with more sophsticated metals. Incidentally, a class 52 is the 2nd most advanced loco running around right now, as modified by Sulzer/SLM/DLM. The first is DoG of (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

(...) [Snip] (...) Great job Shaun! Your engine is one of the train MOC highlighs for this year. And a missing motor is no problem at all in my eyes: you could place it under any car. Leg Godt! Ben (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

Hi Shaun, FANTASTIC model you have build out of our favorite bricks! And thanks for the describtion in your posting! The quality of first ever build serious MOCs is getting better and better! I am wonderring how the pistons works even when the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  April Fools Day is coming

To All, Warning: April Fools Day is one week away. That means you should expect to be fooled by someone on April 1 (Sunday). Be prepared.   Re: How will Ben top last year? (summit talk?)

Well I'm not under any sort of agreement that limits my thought processes so here goes: Would I be right in thinking that the train summit recently held didn't have much to do with Lego Train items at all? But that it was mainly aimed at using Lego (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How will Ben top last year?

(...) Well, are you SURE you participated in the FIRST LEGO Train Summit? Perhaps yours was the 2nd... :-) :-) :-) Frank (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Signs, Signs, everywhere a Sign

OK, OK before this gets out of control....yes it was just a joke, and was really more of an inside joke with me and one of my fellow club members, not really meant to be a joke to fool the LUGNET community, even thought I used the newsgroup to carry (...)   Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

(...) This engine is a super job well done. I have a couple spare 9V train motors on sale if you need them (email me for details). As for the prototype BR52? This was known as the 'Kriegslok', or 'War Emergency Engine'. Built on the direct orders of (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: MOC: BR52 Steam Locomotive

(...) Not bad. Not bad at all. Very nice indeed, actually. Is this pre or postwar? If prewar I can see it figuring in some Brikwars action nicely. ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A Whole New Breed of Tank Car

(...) Tom Cook did a similar version last year using parts from 4561: (URL) (1) I'd also like to say that I like the look of the detail on yours. It just implies heavy-duty filtration. Neat. -chris 1- sorry for breaking out of tom's frames. check (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How will Ben top last year?

(...) Swallowed what? Those *were* product plans... I just never figured out how Ben found out about them. (Remember the meeting last month? er, ah, I'm under NDA and so are you. Never mind. It was an April Fool's joke. Trust me.) ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: A Whole New Breed of Tank Car

(...) Cute, but it's been done (by Lionel in the 1940s) and it's called an *aquarium* car. Now make it explode. :-) Lionel never did that. Seriously, i like detail. And de-tail in this car is neat. All of it. ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)
