  Re: Track slope...

(...) There was an emphasis shift in introductory civil texts around that time period, as highway and airport engineering became more prominent. In any 1920 era civil text, railroad and bridge engineering vastly outweigh airport and highway (...) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Creations out of 4559

Above say's it all, but has anybody made an model (train) with 4559? Web Site: (URL) 106 models and rising :-) (26 years ago, 22-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Track slope...

(...) Did you just invent this word and trademark it or is Superhedsion a real word/technique? (...) Everyone loves to torture Larry, huh? (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Track slope...

(...) Eurotrash!! That's the name of a TV Program. You're just jealous that European Passenger trains can run at 186mph. (...) Are the metal rails magnetic? If so you could use Superhedsion(TM) basically using magnets to improve traction. (...) How (...) (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Not having access to a used book store, why a civil eng text from before WWII? Did that data become classified after WWII? (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Track slope...

Good topic! (...) 13 is a bit low for anything oversize, IMHO, but I model 'merican. It's probably OK for eurotrash stuff. (...) Good question. Just as with real railroads, the answer is "it depends". Your slope in general is limited by the (...) (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Track slope...

...I massively underestimated the minimum clearance for my first attempt at an overpass and so had to increase the slope of the track to get it up high enough. I ended up with 1 brick per segment, but had a lot of trouble getting the train to (...) (26 years ago, 21-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

The 4.5 V motor is taller that the nub on the 9V motor so any train in which the 4.5V motor fits the 9V motor will also fit. Actually, you will need to add bricks to make the 9V motor fit. When adding a 9v motor to set 7720 I added two 4x4 plates to (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: US style couplers

I've simply used 2x2 plates that have a rounded end (looking down on them) with a hole at the rounded end. It accepts the magnet holder piece from the coupler and eliminates the rather unsightly 'buffer' things. To get the height right, you can (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

(...) Follow the directions they give for converting it to 12v. The two motors are the same size. Jeff P.S. I Know it can be done, 'cause I have a motorless version at home. ;) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  7722 piece

(...) This is an ill formed question. What exactly is it you are asking for? Perusing the instructions, on step 2 of the locomotive instructions (page 2: (URL) ) there are two pieces added that meet your vague criteria of being a "1x2 plate in red (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: WTF is this piece

You need help all right. I don't appreciate acronyms such as the one you used in your subject line. And I don't like your tone, either. "Please" and "thank you" are two words with which IMO you should become a lot more familiar. As for your (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

(...) Well, then perhaps you're going to have to change the internals of the engine a bit to clear the "bogie plate" pin. Many 9V solid frame engines (4563 main, 4559 main) use arches to clear it. (...) Well, then perhaps the length isn't going to (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  WTF is this piece

i need help in identifing a piece. it is used on the front of 7722. there are 2 in red. they appear to be a 1 x 2 plate with something attached. (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

yes but wont there be problems with the fact that the 9V motor has a bogie plate built in? also i think they are different sizes. (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

How about removing the 4.5 volt motor and replacing it with the 9 volt motor??? (...) (26 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)
