Hi everybody,

this is my second post on Lugnet and I haven’t really introduced myself yet, so I thought I’d do it with a little MOC I made with the Ldraw-tools:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=194982

It’s a model of a local snack bar that has been around since 1921 (if you want to belive the sign) and has become kind of a local meeting spot for people from all over town. I thought it would make for a pretty neat little model to ‘start’ out with. The folder ‘compare’ shows some pictures I took straight out of LDView in comparison with the real thing. I took special care to design the building in such a way that it would be sturdy enough to be ‘played with’ in real life (especially the roof, which is supposed to be dismountable), but I won’t be suprised if I’ll get to do some fiddling around once I’m trying to build it for real. I know that it’s nothing big, but it is one of my first ‘pretty’ MOCs and I’d like to hear your opinions about it before I go ahead and get the missing parts. If you do like it, I’d also enjoy creating a building instruction after the real thing is all done and ‘tested’.

So, I hope you enjoy, and your comments are very appreciated.

Robert

(...) SNIP That is one great MOC! If that is your second "pretty" one then you're doing just fine. I like the roof, and the SNOT on the back is pretty cool. I'm guessing that's a bus stop on the side? Keep up the good work, Jeffery MacEachern (4 (...) (18 years ago, 20-Jul-06, to lugnet.town, FTX)

What a cute building! I think that's a great choice of prototype, Robert - small, characterful, and a few non-rectangular features to make it an interesting challenge to build - and you've really done a good job of catching the character. I (...) (18 years ago, 20-Jul-06, to lugnet.town)

Hello Robert, It's a nice model, with a good level of detail for the scale you've chosen. I would consider to make the bench besides the back door six studs long, and model its shape with brown grill tiles, in order to mimic the very narrow beams (...) (18 years ago, 20-Jul-06, to lugnet.town)

Thank you all for your very positive comments, I really do appreciate them. (...) I actually wasn't all that happy with the bench, but I couldn't come up with anything better that would still fit the scale, so thanks a lot for your advice. It sounds (...) Well, I have finally gotten all the missing pieces together and finished building the actual model, so here it is: (URL) MOCpages: (URL) Brickshelf: (URL) I had to make some changes due to little mistakes I didn't notice in the digital model but was (...)
