The Disney line-up, arriving in July, will cover Mickey, Minnie and Friends.
Although it uses SYSTEM/FABULAND elements, it is being marketed, at least in
the US, as DUPLO. Older kids don't go for Mickey & Friends. And while Disney
does have tons of characters to license, including licenses to Star Wars (Ep.
IV-VI, though they are getting I-III), James Bond (all except for Goldeneye)
and Indiana Jones (they didn't make any of the movies, but own licenses to use
characters in their theme parks, marketing, etc.). I do not see a Cinderlla
line or such working, though I do see a UCS Cinderla Castle Model or such. And
I do think a Disney World Monorail set would have much, much appeal. Lot's of
Disney characters would not work as LEGO, because they just don't appeal
anymore. Toy Story would work, so would Lion King and maybe Cinderlla, but
most of the other films are come and go. Armageadon would work too, but that
would be too much like Rock Raiders. A Mission to Mars theme would not be too
bad. What I would love is a Disney World theme park theme. That would be nice.

| <snip> (...) I would pay for that--but only if the included Mr. Toad's Wilds Ride. One of the more interesting ideas I've heard in awhile. Brian (bbq) Sauls (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.town)

| (...) Ar! Pirates of the Carribean returning under guise of the Town lineup! But is Disney World marketable worldwide? (Euro-Disney is a byword among US comics.) Imagine if Lego were working with Disney to do a just-in-time deluxe movie special (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.town)
