    Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
This is my first Moonbase module. It's also my biggest MOC since...well, probably ever (I had a reasonably large collection as a child, but most of it was bright colors that didn't fit with Space or Castle very well). I detailed most of the gags in (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.fun, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Manfred Moolhuysen
Well, since the pool works in a vacuum, the water must be contantly boiling out into space, and with an astonishingly fast rate too. You've modelled this effect nicly with the studs on the trans dark blue plates :-) With friendly greetings, M. (...)          Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) I built it more as absurdist comedic piece, since there are clearly more things wrong about it than there are right. Cartoon physics applies, so the water doesn't boil away, exposed skin isn't desicated (though I did originally plan to have (...)           Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Jason J. Railton
(...) I quite like the water effect these tiles give. For this NBLTC display I just used a single layer of plates of various colours under them: (URL) photograph seems to have picked up the underlying colours a bit too clearly. In reality, you can (...)           Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) As I said, they didn't work out quite how I'd hoped, but it works well enough that the intent is instantly recognizable. And if located on the edge of a display, it can result in a self-replenishing "foam" effect, courtesy of jealous (...)           Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Jason J. Railton
(...) They've been available from the pick-a-prick selection in Legoland Windsor for a while now. They're fairly good value for filling up a cupful, if you have a use for them. (...) Maybe another layer, although I'm working to a flat base here so I (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) I'm guessing one of the California stores has them as well. Bricksland Free S&H (the store I bought mine from) currently has 7613 of them in stock, and there aren't any sets that come with more than two of them (best value is the SW mini MF). (...)           Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Jason J. Railton
Damn, I typed a big reply and then my browser crashed. (...) Those police tiles get everywhere. Windsor did have the little gems in trans yellow, red, green and purple. They fill up the gaps nicely, and you can mount them along technic beams for (...) (21 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) Could be worse. I've gotten so used to posting in forums that I sometimes close the window after only hitting the Preview button. (...) Ah, that would probably explain why someone in Wisconsin had such huge quantities of gems, and all but one (...)          Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Jason J. Railton
(...) Now then, don't be silly. It obviously utilises a hydrostatic integrity field to enhance the surface tension and prevent boiling. This is clearly evident from how the swimmer is fully suspended, even though he hardly breaks the surface. If you (...)         Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Felix Greco
(...) I totally got a kick out of this. Well done. I identify with the kid who got his sand-castle kicked over :( And to those who say you can't have a pool in space (Manfred) or that you can't wear a speedo in space, I say HOGWASH!          Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) Oh? In a general sense, or did someone actually do that to you? (...) Absolutely! Notice that even bully-droids and tyrant-wizards wear speedos in space. Black and red, of course, because dressing in those colors makes you look extra sinister. (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Leonard Hoffman
(...) Certainly is a fun moc! Reminds me of Adrian's pool on his Rigel 7 moonbase. I gotta love that pool! definately need to something like that in a moc of mine! Would love to see this in a moonbase layout - is very nice! -Lenny (21 years ago, 21-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) I'm not sure I ever saw that before. The invisible water idea works pretty well in his pool, because it's obviously a swimming pool w/ diving board, but mine would have just looked like a sloped sand-dune without water and someone flying the (...)         Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Ley Ward
(...) David, this is hilarious, and well executed. Way to fill a pool with gags. Too bad there's no room for surfing. :-D Oh, yeah, and the price of a glass of water on the moon doesn't surprise me one bit. ( My wife works in the arctic on occasion, (...)          Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) Less than you might think. The reason why there's an obverse lunar tide is because the moon is small and doesn't exert enough gravitic force on the far side of earth to pull all the water around to the near side. The side closest to the moon (...) (21 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —Ley Ward

Re: Neptune's Moon Lagoon —David Laswell
(...) Solar pull on the Earth's tides is pretty weak compared to the lunar pull. It'd probably be even weaker compared to terran pull on the moon. Tides might fluctuate an inch or two throughout the lunar month, but not enough to get a good surf (...) (21 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)
