Hi All,
I like cats too, so it's cool with me. I suppose it moves exactly like the
little animation on the MicroMIBO.

The gait is quite different.  I placed the cam used to drive the legs 1 stud
closer to the center of the body so it lines up with the hip pivot point.
This made the motion of the front and rear legs more symmetric and resulted
in a smoother walking motion.  The front feet are more under the cat, and it
doesn't tip from side to side while walking.

I think you could have an alternate tail made of 24t gears strung along a
long axle to create a "poofy tail"- the result of a sudden scare.

This would be appropriate as the shape of the Micro-Scout gives the back
that characteristic scared kitty hump shape.

I'm not really happy with the tail.  I can bend it to give the tails some
"swoosh", but it eventually straightens out and is not cat-like at all.  If
anyone has ideas for a nice "swooshy" tail please let me know.

Andy Evens has posted that when he opens up the .mpd file that the legs and
tail model are missing.  I don't have this problem when I open it up with
MLCAD.  Is the MLCAD multi-part document format something that is
incompatable with other LDRAW tools?

Dean, Thanks for posting the instructions on Brickshelf. I'm looking forward to building a version when I get back home. Sorry for my earlier post. I'm inexperienced with MLCAD and I had not upgraded to the newest version. It works fine now. Thanks, (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.technic)
