(...) just thought of one! And it may result in a neater solution! 8?/ More later. ROSCO (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

cool! been wondering if someone would try this. G Ross Crawford <rcrawford@csi.com> wrote in message news:GMvH2r.16I@lugnet.com... (...) I (...) later. (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 2 speed gearbox for Silver Champion

Wow ROSCO. Very nice indeed. Since getting the 8448 and realising that there is a single ended version of the sliding dog clutch part, and that the gearboxes can do more than four gears I've been tryign to get a better understanding of how (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 2 speed gearbox for Silver Champion

(...) I must admit I was very disappointed that TLC have never done anything with this feature which must have been in their minds when they designed the gear. I used it in my Orrery: (URL) reckon a whole set of different 'gears with holes' should (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

> I reckon a whole set of different 'gears with holes' should be made. I think so, idlers are incredibly useful, I've obtained a lot of mileage from the 16 tooth one! I've recently bought me a drill so some experiments in this area are definitely (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I did that with one of the big yellow gears from the 70's when I was a kid. Dad said I was silly for ruining my expensive LEGO, but at least I got to build a differential, and a really neat "octopus" ride! I wish I'd taken pictures... I also (...) (...) work. (...) Thanks and no probs! As I said, I think I can make an even neater version using a new-style diff, using the same idea, so stay tuned (or experiment yourself!) 8?) ROSCO (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 2 speed gearbox for Silver Champion

(...) Yeah! I'm starting to run out of shelves! I was looking at replacing the silver panels with red ones from the 8448, turn it into a Ferrari, but you need 3 8448s (or hit brickbay) to do that! ROSCO (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Apparently, they've done them in silver... Has anybody tried building a DeLorean yet? I know someone POV-ray'd a regular brick one, but what about a working technic one?   Re: 2 speed gearbox for Silver Champion

(...) Well I cheated a bit - it only had 2 arms! But the idea was there! And it was really stable - the ring round the edge of the yellow gear slid on bricks, stopping the whole thing from tilting as the cam rotated. And I had to use string to (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)
