Are you aware that the 8680 Arctic Rescue Base set

from the Technic Arctic Action theme

has two longer pneumatic cylinders. However, these are the older
single-action variety ...

Somehow I can't see opening a MIB copy of this just to get these parts. :-)
Assuming you could find one. But if you found one that had damaged parts,
using stuff from 9705 (or whichever it was) doesn't seem quite so bad.

Well, Larry, you can say there's always some dumb fool who has done it.

As a matter of fact, I did have a MIB 8680 Arctic Rescue Base set. It's
the only thing I have that's got the early pneumatics. So I simply had
to open up the box to see how those early pneumatics work - single

Yes, the cylinders therein are very long, the longest ever made by LEGO.
But the piston is rather weak as it's made of plastic and not metal. So
it's not capable of doing real useful work. Maybe I should have just
left them in the unopened box :-(
