scanning for new parts —John Barnes
I received the new S@H catalog the other day, and, as usual, browsed the photos of all the new stuff looking for evidence of new parts - especially ones with a Technic bias/use. I am intrigued by the photo of 8538. First of all, there is an (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jul-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I was looking at the front suspension of the new 4x4 set, 8466. It's supposed to be full 4-wheel drive so the front wheels must be driven and steerable. In the catalog, I can see a yellow piece that looks like: (URL) number: 32186 Is it this (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jul-01, to lugnet.technic)

You're right, it does look like the 32186 of the 8448! When I look closely at the main photo, I can see some bevel gears, but it's not clear enough if they are within a diff housing above a 16 tooth gear and did something like what was done to the (...)          Re: scanning for new parts —Thomas (T. J.) Avery
What I would like Lego to do is make more pictures and descriptions available. How much would it cost them to post a few more pictures of 8466 (and others, too) on the Net or simply put more text descriptions? We could get a better look at the beast (...)        (...) That is a very nice idea...it would really help to know exactly what you're buying. People would not be forced to find a parts inventory list or head for Brickshelf to see what elements the set comes with. Looks like the 8465 and 8466 will (...)          It isn't the same! (was:Re: scanning for new parts) —Nathan Falslev
I could be mistaken but I'm pretty darn sure it's not the same part! The new (currently yellow) piece has a larger hole through which some kind of u-joint moves. It also has an extra bit of plastic between main body and the extended ball joint, (...) (23 years ago, 9-Jul-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: scanning for new parts —Ronald Vallenduuk
Are there any better scans available of those pics? All I've seen so far are the S@H pics, and it's very hard to see anything on those.... Steering on 8465 on those pics seems to be using part 6571 (of that same technica page).... Cheers! Duq (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jul-01, to lugnet.technic)
