How about:

or

Or one of my favorites, but with no free-wheel mechanism:

pages.

Does anybody have any links to a Technic engine/transmission similar to
those found in wind-up toy cars?  I realize that it isn't as simple as
winding an elastic around an axle since a clutch mechanism would have to be
used to allow the drive wheel(s) to freewheel once the spring/elastic
energy is used up.

Sorry, I know following up my own post is a little weird, but allow me to
clarify what I mean by "wind-up toy car":  I'm thinking more along the
lines of those cars that are wound up by rolling them backwards, and then
zoom forwards once released.  I wasn't referring to a key-type winding
mechanism.

Thanks again.
