Well for landing gear I really like Karim's design on his orion. I havn't
tried making it yet but I probally will sometime. Orion:

try the patented Mark Sandlin Click Hinge Landing Gear Method (TM). Make
sure you put some powerfull engines to speed you around the galaxy! :-) Try
using plates at differnet angles and just experiment a bit, and take a good
look at Mark and Karim's bigger stuff...
