Re: Any Ideas= 8448 and 4 wheel steering?

(...) The problem with using u-joints is that as the angle increases, the output becomes more "jumpy" relative to the input. This is why real cars (and the 8880) use CV joints. With suspension, it's OK, because you can use two u-joints to cancel (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Similar to what I'm building now I think. I'm using 2 u-joints with 'parallelogram' suspension, and it works ok as long as you make sure that the pivot points for the hub and suspension are vertically aligned witht he u-joint pivot points. I figured out 4WD/4WS two years ago :+) It also has a working differential so that when one wheel gets off the ground, the other will still get traction. Check it out: (URL) this model does not do, but could easily have, is a differential between (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Any Ideas= 8448 and 4 wheel steering?

Mine has a transverse mounted 12 cyl engine, and a two speed worm gear tranny. The rear axle has a differential, but I have one problem. Using a worm gear in hte tranny means that the engine can drive the wheel, but during gear changes, the axle (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)
