  Unknown Technic Promo?

Hello I have come across a manual of an unknown Technic Kit, its a one sheet manaul and the model is a small engine. I have spoken to the last owner and that person said this item has come from a cereal company, Now i asked what one did that person (...)   Re: Micro-motors and fiber optics

(...) Does anyone know if any of those other weird space sets have any useful pieces? I notices some of them say they have lights and sounds, what form does this come in? Gary (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains

One other solution I forgot, that I have used with some success for Mindstorms: Make your device smart, so that it keeps track of its own backlash and compensates for it. I made a device that did this. It would keep track of an estimate of how (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: Micro-motors and fiber optics

(...) The UFO Interstellar Starfighter <set:6979> has both. You might be able to find it for $50 or so. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Micro-motors and fiber optics

I want to get my hands on some micro-motors and also a fiber optics system. I know the Space Shuttle comes with both these but it's quite an expensive set and I also need more than one micro-motor. I also know about the Extreme Creatures set which (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) Aha, the penny drops. I have two of those (grey) from one of the old gear sets as well, pretty much all that remains from these sets. I enjoyed them at the time too, but when the Technic stuff came out, well, that was that... Jennifer Clark (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Make-your-own differential

A while ago, I saw a post about constructing a working differential out of standard parts (i.e. medium sized pulleys, connector pegs and *no* gears). I cannot find the post and I was wondering if anyone knows how to do it. (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) backlash (...) You may find some answer in a post where I explained how Paolo Masetti won the line following robotics contest during Italian Legofest IV. One of Paolo's robot key feature was the reduced backlash in the steering gear train. (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) Yeah, there are a couple of those in this set. The grey brick was used to hold the axles for those red spoked wheels and the really neat tracks. I just recently purchased a copy of set 404, which is pretty much identical to 912. Why are there (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

  Re: How rare is...

(...) I was(am) lucky enough to actually have it :) Hate to rub it in, but it was indeed a great set and I spent hours with it as a child. In many ways it was a pre-technic set (I think there was no Technic theme back in 1976) with axles, motor, (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains

Give Bob Fay an email rfay@we.mediaone.net a lot of his models have to deal with gear bcklash accurately . Perhaps get him to reply to your post here (if his response doesn't beat this post). (URL) Mattson" <mattson@byu.edu> wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Thanks all. I got my answer. It was an extra from my Space Shuttle. Heres another one a BRICK with Technic axle holes in ALL sides. -- Kenneth A. Drumm Ph.D. (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

(...) There are two 5.5 with stop and one #12 (or was it #10?) in ZNAP set 3521: (URL) of the sets I bought had a damaged long axle, I'll take som photos of it. It's been ruined in the mold or while still warm. (I bought two copies to get four 6582 (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains

Try to measure the quantity you are interested in as directly as possible. If you have to count rotations do it at the output of the gear train not the input. For a given quality of gear (TLC's gears are certainly not AGMA 10s !) you have to strike (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains

(...) If you are building a scanning thing, this works really well. I built a camera that used the Lego light sensor, and I would get zig-zags between scan lines. I changed the software to wind it all the way back and scan from the same direction (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Shame, Shame...."plastic" rubber tires in new technic

The plastic wheels work well when you cannot use a clutch gear or pulley belt to protect a motor from excessive resistance. Rrubber wheels do not yield well on some driving surfaces when an obstacle stops the vehicle. Plastic wheels spin and, so, (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.edu)

Re: Backlash in Lego Gear Trains
