Some of the earliest LEGO pictures showing adults building LEGO was from
LEGO Building Idea Book #1 (the first LEGO idea book issued 1960-67).
Check out the last few pictures in this website (it'll take a while to

Notice the picture of the married couple with their dream house.  That
house became the model for the very first LEGO model kit, the 1961
(early version) Junior Constructor (#717), which was a Samsonite only
set.  But this catalog picture has no 3 window dormer over the entrance
door on the left (which the 717 set has).
